Starfield Could Arrive on PS5 in 2026 Following Reported Delay of DLC Expansion

Bethesda’s acclaimed sci-fi RPG Starfield may reportedly be making its way to PlayStation 5 in 2026, according to gaming insider NateTheHate. The leaker claims that the game’s long-anticipated story expansion—originally scheduled for 2025—has been quietly postponed to 2026 to coincide with the PS5 launch window.

The revelation came through social media discussions, where Nate responded to fans asking about upcoming Bethesda projects. When questioned about Starfield, he explained, “The expansion planned for this year got delayed & they want the PS5 version to launch around that time. So… buy me Starfield for PS5 when it drops next year?” In a follow-up, he reaffirmed his stance, writing, “And it’s coming to PS5 next year. Buy it for me when it releases?” He further suggested that an official reveal may not happen until 2026 “unless something changes.”

In official news, Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed ongoing development and support for Starfield, with more updates and expansions on the way. Tim Lamb, lead creative producer at Bethesda, shared in a recent update, “I’m thrilled for players to experience what our team’s been creating. We’ve got exciting updates coming, including free features fans have requested and a new DLC story.” Lamb also highlighted that part of the team is focusing on enhancing exploration and gameplay systems, while fostering community engagement through verified creator content.

Originally launched on September 6, 2023, Starfield became Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in over 20 years, immersing players in the vast Settled Systems—an expansive galaxy featuring over 1,000 planets to explore. The title combines Bethesda’s hallmark open-world design with interstellar travel, combat, and intricate role-playing depth.

If NateTheHate’s report proves true, Starfield’s PS5 debut could align perfectly with its delayed DLC expansion, introducing the acclaimed space RPG to an entirely new audience while marking its most significant content update to date. So far, neither Bethesda nor Microsoft has addressed these claims, but with Xbox increasingly embracing cross-platform releases, the idea of Starfield arriving on PlayStation seems far more plausible than before.
